The Story Behind Timo Guitars

Hi, I’m Tim Jennings, the luthier behind Timo Guitars. What started as a love for music and woodworking has grown into a passion for crafting one-of-a-kind guitars that merge sustainability, artistry, and exceptional sound.

Each Timo Guitar is handcrafted in my small workshop in the heart of France. I work almost exclusively with reclaimed and upcycled wood—pieces that have a story of their own. These materials might come from old barns, discarded furniture, or other forgotten sources, and I give them a second life as a playable work of art. By choosing reclaimed wood, I’m not just building guitars; I’m reducing waste and proving that sustainability and craftsmanship go hand in hand.

The Journey to Crafting Guitars

My path to becoming a luthier wasn’t a straight one. I’ve always been drawn to working with my hands, and I’ve always loved music—but it wasn’t until I built my first guitar that I realized how deeply those passions could intertwine. That first project taught me that a guitar isn’t just an instrument; it’s an extension of the player, and every piece of wood has the potential to become something extraordinary.

Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to perfecting the craft, learning everything I can about sound, design, and construction. Every guitar I make is a labor of love, designed to bring out the best in the materials while ensuring they’re as beautiful to play as they are to look at.

The Materials with a Story

What makes Timo Guitars truly unique is the wood I use. Every plank and beam I work with carries its own history. Some of it comes from local sources—a century-old barn beam or a piece of antique furniture that was destined for the landfill. Other pieces might have traveled farther, carrying their character across borders and decades.

This process means no two guitars are ever alike. The texture, the grain, even the imperfections of the wood add to the personality of each instrument. By working with reclaimed wood, I embrace its quirks and its character, turning it into something new and meaningful.

Built for Lifelong Sound

My goal is to create guitars that stand the test of time—both in craftsmanship and in sound. I pay careful attention to every detail, from shaping and bracing to finishing and setup, so that each guitar meets the highest standards of tone, playability, and durability. Whether you’re a professional musician, a hobbyist, or someone who simply appreciates unique, handmade instruments, a Timo Guitar is designed to be a lifelong companion.

Why Timo Guitars?

  • Sustainability: Every guitar is a step toward reducing waste and celebrating the potential of reclaimed materials.

  • Craftsmanship: As a one-man operation, I put my heart and expertise into every instrument, ensuring no detail is overlooked.

  • Uniqueness: No two Timo Guitars are the same. Each one is a reflection of its materials and the care that went into creating it.
